Empowering Boys

Empowering Black boys is a key strategic objective of the organization.

The Black Boys Can training and development Programme:

  • Aims to build Black boy’s self-confidence, motivate them to educational and social success.
  • Assist them in developing strategies for dealing with adverse factors that often impedes their progress.
  • Operates within a positive environment where boys learn to value themselves and others.
  • Is taught by positive role models; people who believe in the ability of Black boys to succeed.

The Boys on the programme have a real stake in how their local project is developed.

Some projects include national curriculum subjects such as maths, English and science.

This extra support is given to supplement what they are already being taught at school and is not designed to replace the important role that their school teachers play in their education.

Most projects operate on Saturday mornings on a fortnightly basis providing a training and development programme for boys between the ages of 9-16.

For a list of the geographical areas in the country that runs the Black Boys Can project, go to Franchises/Projects.

A new website is about to be launched this autumn - www.blackboyscan.com. This site is being designed by boys for boys.
