Birmingham University

Birmingham University, is fully committed to raising attainment and participation within higher education from under-represented groups. They have joined forces with the National Black Boys Can Association in 2003 to run a one year project specifically targeting year 10 Black boys.

Due to the success of the pilot project, which finished in April this year, another programme with a new cohort of boys is due to start shortly. The programme will involve empowerment training for the boys in addition to support in three of the core curriculum subjects, i.e. English, maths and science. In addition, a programme of training will be provided to assist parents to provide effective support for their sons.

Details of the new programme will be released shortly.
